§ 23.50.100. Scenic vistas.

Latest version.
  • A.

Review Authority. The department shall serve as the review authority for all developments subject to the requirements of Section 23.20.070, Site design—View preservation.

    B.

Review Criteria. In order to protect the existing outstanding scenic views which significant numbers of the general public have from public rights-of-way, applicants for development must consider the impact their proposal will have on views of Mt. Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, Budd Inlet, the Black Hills, the Capitol Building, and Capitol Lake or its surrounding hillsides. Developments must reserve a reasonable portion of the views of the preceding features and are encouraged to provide lookouts, viewpoints, or view corridors so that visual access to existing outstanding scenic vistas is maintained. Single-family residences and duplex units are exempted from the requirements of this section.
